You have access to the Oil News Index F6 (OIL-F6) from the Thinking Text free data API: a daily index of what the news says about crude oil, read by a language model from about a thousand oil articles a day, next to WTI and Brent.

Files:
- oil/spec.json: the six questions (demand, supply, inventories, OPEC, disruption, margins), their state words and the conventions. Read it before interpreting any value.
- oil/latest.json: the last complete press day: the index (f6), the six slots, the context line, prices and the attribution cards.
- oil/history/all.csv (or <year>.csv / .json): one row per market day since 2022.
- oil/today.json: provisional read of the current press day, every six hours (404 when there is none).
- oil/backtest.json: the back-analysis behind the index page's charts.

How to read it: values are z-scores of the news flow on a trailing year (standard deviations), signed toward a higher price. The read on market day t is the press of the next price day (press_day), so no row uses news written after the close it sits next to. k<K>_implied is the news-implied k-day move in percent.

Files change once a day (final values each morning UTC): download once and cache, don't poll.
Free for research and non-commercial use, with attribution ("Source: Thinking Text, thinkingtext.com"). News analysis for research and entertainment: not a forecast, not a trading signal and not investment advice.

With a key saved in this browser, the examples carry it, ready to paste.
